D.R.B. Sindhu Mahavidyalaya is the first institute affiliated to RTM-Nagpur University offering Microbiology programme at Undergraduate level. The department of Microbiology was established in 1982. Since then, it has grown by leaps and bounds. The faculty of the department is well qualified, committed and dedicated to education in the subject. Dr. Sujata A. Mankar, Head of the department; Member- Board of studies in the subject Molecular Biology & Genetic Engineering (RTM Nagpur University) and Dr. Anita M. Chandak worked as Assistant Professor; Chairperson- Board of studies in the subject Biotechnology (RTM Nagpur University). The Microbiology laboratory is well-equipped with all the modern, sophisticated and costly instruments. The department has its own departmental library apart from a very rich central library. The course contents are transformed by very effective methodology with the help of LCD Projectors and audio –visual Aid. The department undertakes various activities, viz. – workshops, seminars, industrial visits, Student`s activity under MicroGenius Student’s club, Student’s Corner, field excursions, Entrance exam guidance, Google Classroom, Guest lecture, etc. to make the learning a memorable lifelong experience. Alumni of the microbiology department and eminent scientists settled in India and abroad and work in reputed institutes.

Parents-Teacher Meet– Department of Microbiology regularly organizes Parents-Teacher Meet semester-wise to discuss their child / ward’s academic progress, attendance, results, examination schedule and their overall progress.

Mentor-Mentees interaction- Department of Microbiology regularly organizes Mentor-Mentees interaction to discuss and interact with students about their financial problems, any type of complications regarding academics and address them effectively. ·students shared their experiences with concerned faculty members.

3) Know your Microbes -Charts of Microorganisms 

Objective : To understand knowledge about the bacteria and other microbes that live on and in the human body and environments  around us.

About- Microbiology student’s club members have actively and enthusiatically prepared colorful charts and  information given about various types of microorganisms since 2015.

4) Micro Genius Student’s club –

Objectives-The MicroGenius Student’s club aims to enhance and motivate students about the microbiology field and to provide students with necessary knowledge and scientific temperament for proper development of Microbiology subject.

About- The purposes of this club are to provide information to Microbiology students; work as a liaison between students and faculty; and social interactions.Students are the office bearer and organized along with faculty and alumni lectures, small group study seminar, workshops, visit to blood banks, National Literacy Mission – Microbiology awareness program and also encourage to class fellow  to participate in all other activities ; tutoring opportunities, visits to companies/ industries, etc. in the field of microbiology.
