About the Department

The Department of Chemistry, Dada Ramchand Bakhru Sindhu Mahavidyalaya was established concurrently with the institute and is renowned for its resourcefulness, academic vibrancy, and its role in shaping students’ careers. The Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Chemistry, specializing in Organic Chemistry. Additionally, it holds approval as a Place of Higher learning and research centre, enabling it to effectively meet students’ research needs through highly competent faculty members with expertise across various research domains. Faculty members have contributed to numerous esteemed international and national journals, as well as holding copyrights, Patents, overseeing Research Projects of academic significance and active members of Board of Studies, Chemistry.

The department prides itself on its well-equipped laboratories, featuring cutting-edge equipment, advanced ICT infrastructure, and a departmental library along with e-resources. Our commitment lies in delivering top-notch education in chemistry, enhancing skills, and fostering a scientific mindset among students through effective teaching methodologies. The department skilfully incorporates guest lectures, industrial visits, and workshops to enrich and enhance the learning experiences.

To ensure an effective learning environment, we conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings, allowing parents to receive updates about their child’s progress and maintain good communication with teachers. The Mentor-Mentee Scheme enables faculty members to track individual students’ progress on a one-to-one basis, offering personalized support and counselling. To conclude, the Department of Chemistry is dedicated to providing ample opportunities and support for students, ensuring their growth and success in the field of chemistry.

     -Fostering Student Leadership and Engagement in Chemistry

  • Objective: To empower students by providing leadership opportunities and fostering active engagement in chemistry-related activities through the Chemical Society.
  • About:The Department successfully runs the “Chemical Society,” a student-led organization where students participate as office bearers and members. Under the mentorship of the teacher-in-charge, the Chemical Society organizes various activities throughout the academic session. These activities include seminars, workshops, guest lectures, science fairs, and community outreach programs. The society aims to enhance students’ understanding of chemistry, develop their leadership and organizational skills, and promote a collaborative learning environment.

Best Practice of the Department

Workshop: “Career with Chemistry”

  • Objective: To provide students with comprehensive insights and guidance on the diverse career opportunities available in the field of chemistry.
  • About: “Career with Chemistry” is a multi-day workshop series organized annually by the department, designed to help both intra and inter-collegiate students explore various professional paths in chemistry. For three consecutive years, the department has been organizing multi-day workshops on “Career with Chemistry” for both intra and inter-collegiate students. These workshops offer students the opportunity to explore a wide range of career options in chemistry, including opportunities at BARC, lectureships, JRF, Maha Genco, GSI, ONGC, and in Forensic Science. The workshop series aims to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and vision needed to pursue successful careers in chemistry.
