Department of Commerce is a vastly creative and one of the most vitalpart of the Nagpur community that has been contributing to Indian Society by creating righteous, exuberant and industrious citizens for the last 52 years. Since the year 1972 this entity has been tremendously growing in infrastructure, courses, commerce related co-curricular and extracurricular activities

Under the able guidance and mentoring by Dr G. G Rughwani– HOD,Dr S .V. Tewani, Dr. A G Thadani &Dr. M. H. Kaushik, – Vice Principals,  the energetic and enthusiastic staff members of the departmentDr M. L. VanjariDr Reema K Kamlani, Dr. Richa Kalyani, Dr. Bhavna Choudhary, Dr. Amit S Nanwani, Dr. Praveen Kamthe, Dr. Kapil Fulwani, Dr. Mahajan, Dr. Rizwan Khan , Ms. Trupti Patel are running the department to its full potential. A significant number of research papers, articlesin reputed national and international journals and books are published by faculty members and students. All the staff members are actively engaged in research and continuously presenting and publishing research papers on National and International platforms and proved themselves by winning various Awards. Faculty member have completed Major  Research Projects funded by U.G.C. Teachers are members of various commerce and organizations.

The department boasts of state-of-the-art classrooms equipped with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, ensuring an engaging and modern learning environment for students.It has a well-stocked library with a vast collection of books, journals, and digital resources specific to commerce and related fields.An Advanced computer laboratory with the latest software and high-speed internet connectivity is in place to facilitate practical learning and research and to provide hands-on experience to students.

The department has its Commerce Enhancement Cell  focusing on finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and accounting to enhance practical skills and peer learning.Department organizes visits to various industries and businesses to provide students with practical insights and real-world exposure.Industry experts and distinguished academicians are regularly invited for Guest Lectures to share their knowledge and experiences with the students.Group Discussion, Quiz Competition, & Model Making Competitions are Regularly organized to ensure exposure to the latest industry trends and practices.Scheduled parent-teacher meetings are called to discuss student progress, address concerns, and ensure continuous communication between faculty and parents.A structured mentor-mentee program where experienced faculty members guide students in academic, professional, and personal development.

The departmental library has a collection of text books and reference books covering the areas of Accountancy, Management& also the general topics of Commerce. Reading room facility with free access to the text and reference books is available to the students. Currently there are large no of books, reference books& journals available.

The Department of Commerce has Commerce Research Centre approved by RTMNagpur University,This research centre is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of commerce through high-quality research under the approved Ph D supervisors. The centresupports students and faculty to undertake diverse research projects in commerce.

Entrepreneurship Development is initiated and support is extended to students who aspire to start their own businesses. Incubation facilities and mentorship is provided for continuous motivation to the future entrepreneurs.

A strong and diverse alumni network  provides students with mentorship, internship, and job opportunities.

The department inculcates discipline in the students. Discipline is not doing extraordinary things, but, doing ordinary things extraordinarily through proper action and guidance. The Commerce Department is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and enriching educational experience, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to excel in the dynamic field of commerce.

Certificate Courses-

Basics of Income Tax (For B.Com. Sem. I)

Objectives- The course covers the basic concept of taxation including various direct taxes. It is providing fundamental knowledge of various heads of incomes, emphasising Income Tax. It also teaches students to get familiar with government portals to apply PAN and to file ITR. After successful completion of the course, students should be able to assess various types of taxes, especially Income Tax of individual assesses. They must able to file ITR through Income Tax efiling portal.

Duration- 30 hrs.

 

Basics of GST (For B.Com. Sem. II)

Objectives- This Certificate Course provides basic knowledge and practicalaspects of GST. The Certificate Course on GST aims to providespecialized and updated knowledge in the area of GST by skilling students. It also aims toacquaint commerce students with basic knowledge of GST in Indian Taxation System toenrich their knowledge about Procedure of GST Registration, Procedure of GST Return submission, etc

Duration- 30 hrs.

 

Computerized Accounting with Tally (For B.Com. Sem. III)

Objectives- To impart knowledge regarding concepts of Financial Accounting. Tally is an accounting package which is used for learning to maintain accounts. This course helps students to work with well-known accounting software i.e. Tally ERP.9. To make students capable to create company, enter accounting voucher entries including advance voucher entries, reconcile bank statement, do accrual adjustments, and also print financial statements, etc. in Tally ERP.9 software. Accounting with Tally certificate course is not just theoretical program, but it also includes continuous practice, to make students ready with required skill for employability in the job market.

Duration- 30 hrs.

 

Basic of Insurance (For B.Com. Sem. IV)

The Certificate Course aims to develop the skills, which are required to deal with the legal and practical aspects related to regulation of Insurance regime in India. The program aims to provide practical knowledge pertaining to Insurance field and various requirements under diverse statutes. To familiarize students with the fundamental principles of insurance law. To provide a sector-specific analysis of India’s various insurance laws. To provide students with a good grasp of the practical circumstances that diverse stakeholders in the Indian insurance system experience in their professional lives. To give knowledge of current insurance legislation developments in India. This course will not only give students a fundamental understanding of Indian insurance legislation, but it will also give them an in-depth look at the insurance-related compliance requirements using appropriate illustrations and judicial decisions.

Duration- 30 hrs.

 

Fundamental Training for Competitive Exams (For B.Com. Sem. V)

This certificate course aims to provide fundamental knowledge and training for all important competitive exams. The curriculum of this course will help the students to gain maximum knowledge of all the main competitive exams. This comprehensive training course would help the students multitask different subjects and important topics. This certificate course will increase the employability of students.

Duration- 30 hrs.

 

  1. Commerce and Online Transactions (For B. Com Sem VI)

Objectives: This Certificate Course is exclusively designed to inculcate an understanding and analysis of the opportunities and scope for business and trading through M-Commerce, legal issues, and privacy in M-Commerce, recognizing the challenges and precautions to be taken while using social media for trading and the different topics mentioned in the syllabus. The course also equips the students about Mobile business services, Mobile auction, Mobile distance education and Mobile information access. Also, to present concepts and skills for the strategic use of M-Commerce and E-Commerce and related information technology from three perspectives: Business To Consumers, Business To Business and Business to Government.

 

Duration- 30 hours.

 

Tally with GST (For M.Com. Sem. II)

Objectives- The certificate course of Tally with GST is designed with a view of improving a detailed understanding of the knowledge about accounting and GST in candidates.
